By seeking advice from the right people—and in the right ways—you can develop smarter solutions to problems, deepen your thinking, and sharpen your decision making. And by becoming a better adviser, you’ll extend your influence and learn from the people who come to you for guidance.

What is some good advice for life?

When you hear good advice, you should always do two things: Take it in and pass it on.

  1. Take time to know yourself.
  2. A narrow focus brings big results.
  3. Show up fully.
  4. Don’t make assumptions.
  5. Be patient and persistent.
  6. In order to get, you have to give.
  7. Luck comes from hard work.
  8. Be your best at all times.

Why is giving advice bad?

Giving advice stops others from learning and growing. You are assuming that they don’t have the personal resources to find answers within themselves. This stops the other person from taking the time to look within and listen to themselves, or even find their own resources at all.

What’s your best advice for living a happy life?

Your own happiness is a reflection of your day-to-day, the things you’re doing, and most important, how you are doing them. Create your own environment. Put yourself in a place that will help you grow, not suppress your growth. Surround yourself with people who understand, or at least make the effort to understand you.

Is giving advice a skill?

Being able to provide helpful feedback is an important social skill for children to develop. The ability to provide and accept feedback is critical in helping children develop and maintain friendships.

How do I stop unwanted advice?

The Best Ways to Deal with Unsolicited Advice

  1. Close it down. Some people just won’t ever take you seriously, and that’s okay.
  2. Stop taking it personally. Even when we get good advice from someone, unsolicited feedback can hurt our feelings.
  3. Move on.
  4. Learn how to identify the source.
