When you move to a new house, you will need to change your address with your service providers and update your friends and family….
- Royal Mail.
- Insurance Companies.
- Utility Providers.
- The Electoral Roll.
- Schools and Education.
- The Local Authority.
- GP and Other Healthcare.
- The Bank.
Does it cost money to change your address when you move?
Go to to change your address online. There is a $1.05 charge to change your address online. You will need a credit or debit card and a valid email address. The $1.05 charge to your card is an identity verification fee to prevent fraud and make sure you’re the one making the change.
What happens if you move and don’t change your address?
Failing to timely update your address after moving may actually result in a breach of your insurance contract. That could lead to a cancellation of the insurance policy or the denial of a claim.
Do you have to change your address when you move?
We cancelled any bills relevant to the old house. I spoke to the DVLA and they said as it wasn’t a long time I would be ok them change it when I move because it takes 3-4 weeks to change anyway but if its a few months for you them you will most likely have to change it.

Normally if you own a home outright then it Should be that you are free to do with it as you wish. We we in a similar situation in summer, moved in with the in laws for 6 weeks, we just got our post redirected there then changed everything when we moved to our new house. We cancelled any bills relevant to the old house.
