How long does it take to process and approve tax refund?

We issue most refunds in less than 21 calendar days. It is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue refunds for some 2020 tax returns that require review including incorrect Recovery Rebate Credit amounts, or that used 2019 income to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC).

They will provide an actual refund date as soon as the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund. Most refunds will be issued in less than 21 days. You can start checking the status of your refund within 24 hours after you have e-filed your return.

Do you have to file tax return if you work part time?

Filing a tax return can be confusing for both the teen and his parents. Many teens who work aren’t required to file a return because they work part-time and their annual income doesn’t reach the IRS filing threshold, so whether they’re required to file depends on how much they make in a given year.

When do you get your tax refund if you did not file?

The federal IRS refund schedule table below is only for electronically filed returns (e-file) done thorough online tax software providers and assumes your tax return was in order. I.e accepted by the IRS via the WMR tool and status is equal to “Return Received”.

When do you get your tax refund if you claim EITC?

If you file on the early side and claim the earned income tax credit(EITC) or the additional child tax credit(ACTC), you will have to wait a bit for a refund. According to the law, the IRS has to wait until Feb. 15 to issue a refund to taxpayers who claimed either of those credits.
