Where can I find shares that were sold short?

For general shorting information—such as the short interest ratio, the number of a company’s shares that have been sold short divided by the average daily volume—you can usually go to any website that features a stock quotes service, such as the Yahoo Finance website in Key Statistics under Share Statistics.

How do you find the original price of a stock?

Subtract the number of shares from the last offering from the total number of shares. For example, if the last offering included 200 shares: 1,200 – 200 = 1,000. Multiply the price of the stock during the last offering by the number of offered shares.

How can I calculate price per share?

Start by adding the net proceeds to the costs in order to find the gross (total) proceeds from the stock issuance. Then, divide the gross proceeds by the number of shares issued to calculate the issue price per share.

What happens when you short sell stock?

Short selling is a fairly simple concept—an investor borrows a stock, sells the stock, and then buys the stock back to return it to the lender. If the stock does drop after selling, the short seller buys it back at a lower price and returns it to the lender.

How do you find out what you paid for shares?

You can contact this company online with your shareholder reference number (SRN) if those shares were “issuer sponsored” or with your “holder identification number” (HIN) if they were “broker sponsored”. Or you can call Computershare on 1300 557 010.

What do you need to find lost shares of stock?

An issuing broker or transfer agent can help you locate stock shares that you have lost. You will need your Social Security number or tax ID to begin this process.

How can I find out the purchase date of a stock?

Another way to track down the date: If the investment was a gift, perhaps a relative got the same gift and has records that show a purchase date. If those options don’t work, you may have to make an educated guess about when the stock was purchased.

How do I Sell my shares in the stock market?

If you hold shares directly, you can sell them by placing a trade online or contacting your broker. You pay a fee each time you make a trade. You exchange the legal title of ownership when you sell shares. Settlement for the sale and transfer of ownership happens two business days after the trade (known as T+2).

What happens if you don’t sell your stock at the right time?

If you don’t sell at the right time, the benefits of buying at the right time disappear. Many investors have trouble selling a stock, and sometimes the reason is rooted in the innate human tendency toward greed. However, there are several strategies that you can use to identify when it is (and when it isn’t) a good time to sell.
