Can I settle a Judgement for less?

A creditor may agree to settle the judgment for less than you owe. The creditor will file a “satisfaction of judgment” with the court. Be sure to get a written agreement that says exactly how much you will pay and when, and that the payment settles the entire debt.

How long can the judgment creditor pursue payment?

In Alberta you can proceed with post judgment collections for up to ten years. This means that as a person or company’s financial position changes, you can continue to collect on the judgment awarded to you.
